Missionary Projects

All money's raised by these crosswords whether as donations or subscription to Lectionary and other crosswords goes towards supporting the Missionary Projects in Coventry Diocese.

Currently the projects are as follows:

  • Link with Kaduna Nigeria which was established in 2000 following the major riots and killings between Christians and Muslims. Coventry has as part of reconciliation programme has been very active in bridging the misunderstandings between between young persons in both Christian and Muslim communities. The Coventry Diocese now supports through:
    • Water Wells - For £1000 a well can be dug and hand pump fitted so far some 5 wells have been completed. See location and photos at http://www.companionshiplinks.co.uk/well_map_kaduna.asp
    • Books for Primary Schools - This project has sent over 5000 reading books for children.
    • Theological books for clergy - so far some 500 books have been sent.
    • Medical Clinic - We have supported clinic at Kateri and Yelwa Danyata. We are about to set out to fund a clinic at a remote village of Iburu.
    • Jacaranda Farm - This is the major project which is the inspiration of Archbishop Josiah Fearon to create a place where young Christians and Muslims can meet to learn farming and about each other religions. The farm is still not purchased and over £100,000 is required. Coventry has made major contributions to the purchase so far as well as providing tractor, trailers and other farming equipment.
